Aspen is 60 lbs of pure drive and trainablilty. Everyone that hunts over Aspen just falls in love with her, because she does one thing great and that is find birds for everyone. Aspen will be 5 years old in April 2011. She has had every upland game speice in Utah shot over her, and has retrieved thousands of ducks and geese from lakes, streams, rivers and marshes. Aspen is clear on all of her health clearances. Aspen is a great family dog and has an amazing off/on switch. In the house she is just as chill and relaxed as you have ever seen, and then in the upland field and marsh she just absolutely turns on. Aspen has been through all the levels of trianing, beginning and advanced.
Aspen has one of the nicest noses I have ever seen on a pointing lab. She has had a staunch natural point ever since she was a pup and some serious bird drive. Aspen is super quiet in the kennel and rarley lets out any type of bark. She just is not a vocal dog. That is a great genetic trait to have. Aspen will bust the really thick brush for you if that is what you are hunting or will glide smoothly through grassy fields if that is your choice of hunting. She tracks running pheasants and chuckar with great skill, and very rarley does a bird ever get away from her. She is the all around upland game hunting package. She is a non stop bird hunting machine. When I take her just on walks around my house, she always has to be hunting when out.
Aspen does extremely well in the water and loves to hunt waterfowl. Last year many times she retrieved geese on blind retrieves and marks across the large green river here by my house. She handles nice in water and will brave any water to retrieve a downed bird.
Aspen recieved her Certified Pointing Retriever title and Advanced Pointing Retriever title in Colorado fall of 2009 and recieved her Master Pointing Retriever title fall 2011. Spring of 2012 Aspen went 5/5 on passes to get her Senior Hunter title through the American Kennel Club! Aspen is an example of what excellent breeding for pointing labs is all about. Titles: CPR, APR, MPR and SH.
